Mercy Holistic Ministry has been blessed to form new partnerships with several schools, Christian and public. Students and staff alike have been moved to respond generously to our mission, and the Mercy team in turn has been encouraged by their support.

Mercy Visits Victory Christian Schools

Victory Christian Schools (VCS) in Carmichael hosted the shower trailer and invited Berhanu to give a chapel message related to the 2024-25 school year theme, Being Selfless in a Selfie World. Students got their Bibles out to follow along with the several scriptures Pastor Berhanu included.

In response to the theme, the 7th grade students held a hygiene item drive that quickly became a school-wide competition. The first-grade class was the winner and received tokens of appreciation from MHM, and a pizza party from the school. The 7th grade class officers  presented several large boxes of various hygiene items, new underwear and socks to Berhanu and Dave. In turn MHM presented the school with a certificate of appreciation and a gift for the 7th grade class teacher. We pray that this is only the start of a new relationship in the community.

St Peter’s Lutheran School Welcomes MHM

The staff and students at St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Elk Grove recently hosted Mercy and the shower trailer at a weekly chapel service. The students dedicated their first-trimester chapel offerings to support the shower ministry, and principal Sharon Connick handed the Mercy chairman of the board, Dave Kretzmann, a check from the collected offering amounting to more than $1,000.

Dave’s chapel message highlighted the importance of restoring dignity to people on the streets of Sacramento whether it be with a shower, hygiene products, a prayer or a simple smile. He asked a student to read Matt. 25:35-40, emphasizing the importance and the impact of what we do for “the least of these.” Staff and students were invited to tour the shower trailer afterwards and given a shower coin box for each classroom as a way to show gratitude to God and the love of Christ to those who need it most.

MHM at Mira Loma High School

Mercy was invited back to Mira Loma High School for the second year to participate in Black Renaissance Day. We had a table with information about our services and the new shower coin donation boxes. Mercy team members enjoyed engaging with students and staff. We were pleasantly surprised at how many teenagers wanted to donate to the ministry. Several signed up to volunteer and receive community service credit for helping us with upcoming projects.

Zion Lutheran School in San Francisco Zooms with Berhanu

Berhanu gave an engaging Christ-centered presentation, and the children decided to collect their chapel offerings to send to Mercy. Their generous combined efforts are so appreciated. What a pleasure it is to see the Word of God being lived out in young lives.
